November is Rotary Foundation Month. The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. Since its inception more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than US$4 billion on life-changing projects and challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact. With your help, we can make lives better in our community and around the world.
The installation of the safe Water Gardens at Nagrak Village, West Java, Indonesia is complete.
30 SWGs were built with 23 toilets, 61 kitchen sinks and 2 deep wells were dug as well as two water towers to serve 50 families in total. Altogether, these systems served 92 families! In addition, 50 Nazava water filters were distributed. This was great progress by our partner Safe Water Gardens Pte. Ltd.
PP Richard Ong of Rotary E-Club of 3310 registered to celebrate World Polio Day on 24th October 2021 with partner C.K. Cusine, Friends of Rotary and fellow Rotaractors & Rotarians. 120 meals were distributed.
PP Edmund Chew the Chairman of the Society of Starfish was invited to Rotary Club of Garden City. Club President Keith Wang presented two cheques totaling S$8000 to Society of Starfish Singapore on the 19th of October at Rotary House at Peninsula Plaza.
PP Edmund provided support to Mr. Ivan Ho of Helping Hands Manila. Donations of Rise Against Hunger nutritional rice, blankets and mosquito coils were packed and shipped to Manila. The shipment costs were borne by Ivan & Lai Eng former owners of Big Street Cafe.
The Sustainability Design Competition at Temasek Polytechnic was concluded in October. It was excellent work in raising awareness with our youth by Rotarian Gabrielle. I trust this was a valuable lesson to all the students and they will continue to innovate and help in the fight for Climate Change. We look forward to the next one.
Meals were distributed as part of the Project Happy Meals to three Senior Activity Centers, at Jalan Kokoh, Chin Swee & Banda (Chinatown) on 9th October 2021. A total of 100 meals contributed & distributed by Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary from vendor Five Dragons.
