President’s Message for December 2021
Monday, 6 December 2021 | View:
December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month in Rotary. Rotarians have been involved in fighting the disease for decades as it is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus.
Rotarian Dr. Doris Ang was awarded a Long Service Award from HCA Hospice Care for her selfless dedication for the past 30 years. There were more congratulatory praises for Rotarian Dr. Doris Ang where she was honored with a PHF from Rotary Club of Pontian, District 3310 for her contributions to the palliative care projects with the club.
Our Global Grant “Safe Water Gardens” GG2121887 project which has already been implemented at Nagrak Village, West Java, Indonesia helps to fight the cause of Disease Prevention and Treatment, which is this month’s Rotary theme, by providing safe sanitation. The Safe Water Garden Global Grant project has received attention from The East Java Water Agency with officials visiting from Surabaya to understand the impact of SWG at Nagrak Village which is a great testament to the success of the project.
Project Ray of Hope – Breakthrough in Learning Difficulties team completed the diagnostic consultation for all seven students shortlisted in the final round for Irlen Lenses. Orders for these lenses were placed and delivered. We are thankful to the sponsors of spectacle frames of $60 for each student. Seven out of the eleven students from both Spectra Secondary School and Assumption English School collected their Irlen Lenses. The respective schools will get feedback from the students and their parents on the impact before and after use of the Irlen Lenses. The project team would like to thank all of the donors that provided the funds to help these students. The club will continue to raise funds for additional students in need of our help. We are targeting 50 students which will require SGD $30,000.
Chow Siew Kin and Calvin Koh were awarded PHF’s in honor of their contributions to the Happy Meals program run by PP Richard Ong.
In December our club will take time to celebrate our achievements and bring holiday cheer with a year-end Christmas celebration. Our members have contributed tirelessly and with selfless dedication in service to others. I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to our members, supporters, and donors for their contributions and support to the Rotary E-Club of 3310.
Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas.
Warm wishes,
Eddie Ho
President Rotary E-Club of 3310
