President’s Message for November 2024

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and the accomplishments we achieved in October.
This month, we have been very active with our projects. Special thanks to PP Richard Ong, Rtn Foo Lai Chan, and Rtn Cindy Yen for taking the lead on the Happy Meal Project. Our Board of Directors is also working diligently to understand how we can better support the girls in India, where Rtn Arun Sharma has been supporting. Additionally, our Rotary Buddy Support System is thriving, with many teams organizing fellowship gatherings to strengthen our friendships.
I recently attended the End Polio Workshop, where I learned about Rotary’s commitment to eradicate polio since the 1970s; including developing and distributing vaccines and raising awareness. It is alarming that reported polio cases have increased to double digits, since polio can cause irreversible damage to children. This is why we Rotarians around the world are dedicated to this cause.
This month, we had also committed to donate funds to assist schools in Bandung, Indonesia, that were affected by the recent earthquake. We are collaborating closely with Rotarians in Bandung to understand their needs and determine how we can best help.
During this month’s fellowship, we enjoyed a walk along Kallang River organized by Rtn Lisa-Marie Schaefer, who is also actively involved with her Because Community. This organization raises funds by organizing sports and other activities to help children in Cambodia access education and healthcare. Many of our members felt connected with Because, and we all had a wonderful time during the walk.
November promises to be an exciting month! For our club meeting, we shall have guest speaker Hazel Seow, a philanthropy advisor from The Rotary Foundation, who will share insights on “Making a Lasting Impact through The Rotary Foundation.” Additionally, at the District level, we have the Pan Borneo Conference and the Taipei Institute coming up, and I encourage any member who has not signed up to do so quickly.
Thank you once again. I look forward to another exciting month in November!
Yours truly,
Stephanie Song
